Anxiety project report

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

Background We have created objects and the digital world, so we have long been used to consuming them and letting them entertain us. I have never thought about whether there are creatures in the digital world. These creatures have their own emotions and perceptions like us. They can be depressed, anxious or happy. Compared to humans, they are observed; compared to humans, we may also Being observed and consumed without knowing it. This project will take a human-centered world to view the larger physical world and tell the story of human observation and being observed. The background of the story is that humans are forced to be confined in space like the background of the outbreak. All visible creatures are in the shape of humans. People swim like fish and roll like rocks. Tribute to Kuroko (Sue, 2012), Hyper Reality (Keiichi Matsuda)

Intention Maybe they won't be like the animated movie Wreck-It Ralph, where each of the main characters in the game has its own social network. For the real world, what does the virtual world mean to us? I am planning to create a nonlinear transmedia storytelling/ game about emotions. There is no clear beginning and end of the story.

Technology Since we may show our work online, I will create a virtual scene to be an exhibition, and passing one door to another means going from one space to another. Four spaces and doors will mean different psychic anxiety scenes: Fear of the negative future, fear of disease, fear of becoming older, fear of material poverty. For the doors I would use AR Portal in Unity and then export WebGL then post it on web. Ideally through AR Vuforia, scan the scene with a mobile phone or iPad to generate the story background of the scene. The reason for using AR Portal is that Portal means the entrance to be observed. AR Portal can only enter the space from one direction. Portal is accidentally invisible, which also symbolizes the connection between the observer and the observed. However, the reason for using AR Vuforia is that the viewer acts as a larger observer, playing the role of manipulating and reading the background of the story.
